The Duo | PermaHaven™ Case Study
Some of the most important systems in a home are the ones a buyer may never see. The Duo gave SteelHaven an opportunity to evaluate one element of the PermaHaven™ strategy under real-world buyer due diligence.

Independent Buyer Due-Diligence Test
Measured during the buyer's independent due-diligence testing of The Duo.
The result was not produced as a SteelHaven demonstration or controlled marketing test. It was measured as part of the buyer's independent evaluation of the completed home.
Interpretation
A single radon measurement does not prove that a home is "radon-proof," and SteelHaven does not make that claim.
Radon levels can vary by location, soil conditions, weather, building operation, season, and other factors. Testing remains the appropriate way to determine the radon concentration in a particular home at a particular time.
What The Duo provides is a measured, real-world data point from a completed PermaHaven™ home. It lets us compare the finished home against the intentions built into the system.
Below the home
PermaHaven™ treats the slab and foundation as part of the building system rather than simply the surface the home is built on. The objective is to address potential pathways below the home before they become concealed conditions. Radon is one reason that matters. Moisture, air leakage, energy performance, and long-term durability are others.
Soil-gas management
Vapor management
Air sealing
Thermal performance
Foundation and envelope integration

System integration
Radon performance cannot responsibly be attributed to one material or one component. Traditional construction often treats foundation, walls, insulation, HVAC, ventilation, and air sealing as separate scopes. PermaHaven™ coordinates them as one building system.
Sub-slab conditions

Building envelope
Air movement
Ventilation
Real-world validation
The Duo allows SteelHaven to compare design intent with completed-home performance.
IDENTIFY
Recognize conditions that can affect the home: soil gas, moisture, air leakage, thermal bridging.
DESIGN
Address them through coordinated assemblies and details before work begins.
BUILD
Execute through defined materials, sequencing, installation requirements, and QC checkpoints.
MEASURE
Use real-world testing and completed-home data to see how the system performed.
LEARN
Feed what we learn into future PermaHaven™ homes.

This result represents the radon concentration measured in The Duo during that specific test period. It should not be interpreted as a guarantee of future radon levels in The Duo or any other SteelHaven home.
Claim boundary
Measured evidence with responsible boundaries. SteelHaven recommends that buyers follow appropriate testing and due-diligence practices for the specific property they are purchasing.
PermaHaven™ eliminates radon.
SteelHaven homes are radon-proof.
Every PermaHaven™ home will measure 0.3 pCi/L.
Future testing of The Duo will necessarily produce the same measurement.
Radon testing is unnecessary in a PermaHaven™ home.
What it does tell us
It supports continued evaluation of a design philosophy that asks: what risks can we address before they become problems? That question extends beyond radon.

PermaHaven™ connection
Better homes start with better decisions. PermaHaven™ is SteelHaven's patent-pending building system designed to move more critical decisions upstream.
Engineering before construction.
Coordination before installation.
Risk reduction before remediation.
Quality control before concealment.
And measurement after construction whenever meaningful data is available. The 0.3 pCi/L measurement is one data point, but it shows how SteelHaven wants to build: don't wait for the finished home to ask whether the system worked. Design intentionally, build deliberately, and measure the outcome.
